Building Sciences Course Offered

DSU, in collaboration with the Energy Coordinating Agency of Philadelphia, is offering training to prepare men and women to enter the growing clean energy workforce.  This training includes classroom, hands-on training and field experience.  The training meets Building Performance Institute (BPI) standards and upon successful completion will lead to a BPI certification.

BDL 083- Building Science Principles

Course Length: 2 day (8 hours); August 6-7, 2018, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Course Location:  Room 100, Thomasson Building, Delaware State University, Dover, DE      

Course Description: This course provides an introduction to building science and performance.  Students learn to view the “House as a System” of interrelated components that dictate residential comfort, health, safety, energy efficiency, and durability.  Topics include heat, air, and moisture movement, building components, mechanical systems, environmental concerns and occupant education.  Building Science Principles consists entirely of classroom theory.  Students receive a Building Performance Institute (BPI) certificate upon passing the course exam.
