Building Performance Institute (BPI) Training and Certification
Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst Training
BPI's Building Analyst certification is the nationally-recognized standard for residential energy auditors. With this certification, one can work in the national Home Performance with Energy Star Program or for a private energy auditing or contracting business. All energy auditors will be required to have this certification by July 2011. This course is suggested for individuals who have some experience in one of the building or construction trades, architecture, real estate or engineering. BPI requires that individuals pass both a written and field exam to become certified. The fee for both exams is included in tuition.
The course is comprised of two components:
- A 6-week online course called Saturn Online (Optional). This course will prepare students for the BPI training class and will review basics of residential heat and air flow. The course is self-paced but students will be provided with a syllabus, course guide, books, access to an online discussion forum, and access to an ECA instructor who can answer questions. It is recommended that students spend 5 hours per week on this material. For a more detailed course description and registration form, click here.
- A 1-week training to take place in person at our Green Jobs Training Center. Training is full time (9am-5pm) and will include classroom study, field practice, and lab work. The written exam will take place on the last day of training and the field test within two weeks afterward. For a more detailed course description and registration form, click here.
Please note: The 6-week Saturn Online course is highly recommended but not required. Individuals with extensive experience or knowledge of the subject matter can opt to take only the one-week training required for BPI certification.
Course Fees:
BPI and Saturn: $1895
BPI Only: $1705
